New Horizons provides crime victim advocacy and parenting time services to men, women and children of Lincoln, Lyon, Murray and Redwood counties. Whether a crime is stalking, harassment, identity theft, bullying, sexual assault/abuse, homicide, theft, elder abuse or another, New Horizons Crisis Center can help clarify information and explore feelings that may surface after a crime has occurred. New Horizons Crisis Center also offers professional education and parenting time services to meet the needs of individuals and families in Southwest Minnesota.
Services are free, confidential, and needed. “History shows that economic recession and crime go hand-in-hand, at least to some degree. Whether it's petty theft or violent crime, the toll of financial difficulty can weigh down even the best of us” (Source: Police Employment) — and at New Horizons, we have witnessed this impact firsthand. During our last fiscal year (July 2023 - June 2024) we served 376 individuals through our direct services programs – providing 2,114 services to these individuals. We also provided 10 community education and awareness activities reaching 728 participants and 8 professional trainings/presentations reaching 165 professionals through our professional education efforts. Here is what one person said about what they found was most helpful about our advocates and/or the agency: “Thank you for always being there to take my calls and for taking the time to answer all of my questions. I never felt like I had to hurry through our conversation or that I was too “needy” – like you can sometimes feel in therapy. I appreciate all of the time and support you gave me!”
